An invitation to join an international competition was tendered in September 1995, with the competition to be presented in December of the same year.

As a new member of the Competition Design Team, Richard worked as an Architectural Assistant on Pre-Design and Design Stages, with responsibilities that included scheme design development and concept sketches; presentation scheme development and final design and presentation drawings.
