Project Description
As part of a planned industrial expansion programme by the Libyan Government, the team’s objectives and design principles were to create major ecologically sustainable production facilities for a wide cross section of industries.

Key support facilities include Mosques, Cafés, Internet/Phone Cafés, Administration, Medical Centre, Security Authorities, Emergency Services, Sport and Leisure. Major internal road and utility distribution networks with natural buffer zones and open spaces throughout the development for ecological sustainability, leisure and recreation.

Roles and Responsibilities
As Associate Director responsible for site research, analysis, diagramming and presentation; Richard was part of a larger team alongside three senior designers who produced three different masterplan concept designs, one of which was developed further into a final masterplan, leading to production of detail designs for key Local Centre buildings as well as exemplar industrial and business unit designs.
