The city of Ejdabia is renowned for poetry and song in eastern Libya and this is celebrated here to create a theme for the design of the Ejdabia National Park. The Poetry Centre and Library, for which Richard was responsible, is a defining feature of this park, located in the north east of the site and is established in an oasis of shelter and shade trees within the natural landscape. It is adjacent to a covered exterior amphitheatre which, when combined with other venues and facilities in the park, can host substantial literary and poetry festivals of national and international stature.
