Richard, a qualified senior architect, designer and design/project manager, is American and European educated with over 25 years experience participating in and managing renowned, design-led project teams. He has competition- and award-winning experience in mixed-use, community and arts projects, residential, office, high rise, transportation terminals, masterplanning and urban design. Richard has been able put his formal education in architecture, urban design, sustainable development, environmental science, philosophy and graphic design to use in a wide range of capacities and roles for practices across marketing, design and management.

In 2012, Richard began RESPONSIBLE architecture, working as a consulting senior architect, masterplanner and design/project manager on large, sustainable mixed-use design projects in the UK, Europe and shortly in the Middle East.

Before joining LCE Architects, Richard lived and worked in North America, SE Asia and Europe. Highlights include a combined period of nearly 9 years at GRIMSHAW and Foster + Partners, where he worked mainly on large projects in several countries. His most notable projects include: the Eden Project (early concept stage), Berlin Stock Exchange, Hong Kong Airport, Beijing Airport, HSBC Headquarters Tower, Swiss Re Tower (‘the gherkin’) and the World Trade Center Competition (NYC), among several large masterplans.

Richard is registered with the Architects Registration Board UK and is a Member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences, US Green Building Council and the Research Society at University of Exeter. He blogs and tweets about architecture, sustainability and environmental issues.
